They are valid to get you through customs coming in from Canada, Mexico or the Caribbean-but only via land or sea, you still need a passport for flights. They cost more and you have to do a short 'interview' and provide a passport or two verifiable forms of ID such as a current driver's license, original birth certificate, etc. Those contain an RFID chip that can be read at customs. An enhanced Driver's license is available as a 'upgrade' in Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Vermont and Washington. Florida is a state where you can get a 'Real I.D.' which is what will eventually be needed for any domestic air travel in the U.S. Has anyone else heard of this? We heard that in order to use your drivers license on a cruise now it need to be the new State of Florida license. Recent the State of Florida has changed the look of there license. ![]() We are going on a close loop cruise out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida on HOTS in July and several people are traveling with just there drivers license.
